The cabinetmakers bench should be approximately 1800mm to 2100mm long, 900mm wide, and at a comfortable height to suit the operator. Its construction should be of wood; solidly constructed and equipped with a well for storage of tools in use. Tools not in use can be either racked or stored in a drawer or in a toolbox.
Part of the top should be flat over the full width to allow for flushing of frames, this can be achieved by 'packing' the well with a well insert. Peg holes in the leg allow pegging for support of long frames held in the vice e.g. door hinging etc.
A bench stop either fixed or adjustable should be positioned above one leg.
[edit] Bench Hook
The bench hook provides support to timber for chiseling or sawing purposes. It can be equipped for 45 degree cutting.
