[edit] Coat Rack
This coat rack is one of the simpler projects that we have featured in Amateur Woodworker. It was designed to fit in a small hallway and had to accommodate both coats and the usual paraphernalia such as gloves and hats (hence the shelf). The reasoning behind the length of the coat rack was to allow wet coats to rest against the wooden slats, rather than the wall, as well as allowing for more coat hooks to be fitted into the relatively small space.
[edit] Coat Rack, Shaker Style

[edit] Rifle Rack - Field (PDF)
This simple field rifle rack idea has been around for ages
[edit] Gun Cabinet
The cabinet stands 71" tall and holds eight rifles above, hand guns below, and ammo in the draw. All compartments can be locked but the doors are glass, so trigger locks are recommended. This project takes a moderate skill level, table saw, router, and some mitre work at the top and bottom. The cabinet is made in two pieces, bolted together.
[edit] Gun Cabinet
Cabinet for long arms and pistols. A gun cabinet can be an eye-catching piece of furniture, and we've designed this piece to be as elegant as anything else you would want to build.
[edit] Open Wardrobe
Construct it in an alcove or against a wall, and include a chest of drawers to hold all the little stuff. It's a bulky project, so get the older kids to lend a hand.
[edit] Meat Safe - Oak
Build a brand-new antique! This versatile classic goes together fast with biscuit joinery.
[edit] Hammock
Transforming a bare backyard into a relaxing place to read or doze away an afternoon was the goal of homeowners Charlie and Henri Musselwhite. Landscape designer Fred Sims proposed a hammock on two redwood uprights sunk into concrete, accented by colourful plants and an espaliered fruit tree.
[edit] CD, Coffee Table
Finding somewhere to store your CDs can be a problem, especially if you don't want them on display. Well, Shirl has a simple solution that combines your CD storage with your lounge room furniture; it's a CD Coffee Table.
[edit] Clock, Grandfather
The grandfather clock is no doubt the grandest, most statuesque and enduring of all clocks, but it's probably also the most expensive. Prices average between $5000 and $10,000, with antiques fetching $20,000 and more. Vic Prance says that today people look for things that last. A grandfather clock goes from generation to generation, down through the family.

Don Owens from Texas, USA shows how he modifies a curio clock plan to his own preferences.
[edit] Clock, Grandfather - Part 1
Jim McCann is Shop smith’s Quality & Facilities Manager . . . as well as the designer and builder of this regal, cherry Grandfather’s Clock. We think it’s a stunning example of what the Shop smith Woodworking System can do in the hands of a patient, diligent woodworker.

Jim McCann described the start of his work on this, the second instalment of our “Clockmaker’s Diary”.
[edit] Clock, Building a Grandfather - Part 3

[edit] Desk Clock
The only basic factors for a desk clock are that it must tell the time, and that it must be able to stand on its own base. No one ever said that it must be square, rectangular or any other shape! With this in mind, we present this clock design not as a fait accompli, but rather as a starting point for your own creativity.
[edit] Desk Clock, Scrape wood
This handsome clock, with its classical styling, will help make any desk look good, no matter how high the work has piled-up in the in-box. Our thanks to the people at Schlabaugh & Sons of Kalona, Iowa for providing us with the design. They make clocks in a variety of interesting styles, and this is one of our favourites.
