CARCASE (Fig 1) The skeleton framework of a cabinet which usually includes the ends with any connecting bottom, rails or frames.

FRAME (Fig 2)

A square or rectangular structure consisting of stiles and rails joined together forming a surround which often has some form of panel attached.

STILES (Fig 2)

The outer vertical members of a frame or carcase.

HORNS (Fig 2)

Projecting ends to the outside members of framing. They are intended to protect the corners until the frame is fixed.

RAILS (Fig 2)

Horizontal members of a frame or carcase.

INTERMEDIATE RAILS (Fig 2)

Components fixed between stiles, parallel to and between top and bottom rails.

MUNTIN (Fig 2)

A vertical intermediate member in a panelled frame parallel to stiles and joined to the rails.

PANEL (Fig 2)

A flat sheet of material which can be used with frames to form ends or doors.
