This boat is 12 feet long, and it caught my eye the first time I saw it in the Small Craft Building at CBMM. Although it's pictured in A Heritage in Wood the plans (on two sheets of typing paper) were hiding in the Library files.

While not intended for an assault on world speed records, Saucy Shingle is basically the same breed as those big record boats. Three-point hydroplanes hold all major water speed records, and though her points may be smaller, she's a miniature thoroughbred. Small enough to fit inside a station wagon or on top of a compact car, the bare hull weighs only 74 lbs. It's an easy construction job that can be accomplished in a corner of your garage or basement.

My friend Richard says he and a neighbour kid built one of these when they were kids. They found the plans in the library and had to trace them with "onion skin" paper since the librarian wouldn't let them take the book home.
